January 8 2017 Weekly Horoscope We Live by the Sun Feel by the Moon

General for Week Commencing: Monday 09 January 2017

   Aries Monday 09 January 2017  Mar 21 - Apr 19
In the final two weeks of 2016 we saw the major planets in the solar system come up behind the scenes, creating some very intense major developments. Planets that work behind the scenes for years, never drawing attention to themselves and quietly going about steering things in the right direction, all threw the toys out of the playpen at the same time and took centre stage. Personally and worldwide, this made the final weeks of 2016 very intense. This week they have all taken a seat, allowing more mundane forces to take the field and as a result, things are getting back to normal. This comes just as most of us are heading back to work or to our normal routines after the holiday period. Yet in the process something has shifted and this is personal. You’ve been woken up to the fact that living your own truth is now the only option.

   Taurus Monday 09 January 2017  Apr 20 - May 20
All eyes are on Mercury this week, as he makes a rare double dip visit to your financial sector. This is in the ‘blink and you’ll miss it’ category, which is surprising as he’s only moving at a crawl. Having retrograded back in last Thursday, Mercury is already in direct motion and will leave on the Friday. Barely sticking his head in the door, this is an opportunity for a do over, this time with a smart head for money and 20/20 hindsight. Already you need to be wrapping this up and from the get go working on your financial game plan and resolutions for the coming year. The Moon’s return to your income sector on Monday is a complication and will keep you on your toes, but the timing is invaluable. A bit of financial tension is a small price to pay, considering the nose for money this brings in the early days of a major year for job growth.

   Gemini Monday 09 January 2017  May 21 - Jun 21
It is your relationships that benefit from Mercury’s short double dip visit back into your relationship sector. However, you might not think so in the early part of the week, as the Moon makes its first visit to Gemini for the year. Mercury is only back in your relationship sector for eight days, on a mission to make doubly sure the communication lines are open. That the Moon should return a day after Mercury’s direct turn puts them in line for an opposition. This could see personal and/or relationship tensions right in the early part of the week. Yet with the planet of communication making a rare double dip visit back into your relationship sector, the timing couldn’t be better. The Moon will fuel your emotional responses and even push buttons, just as you have a rare opportunity to give your relationships, the past and unsaid words a voice.

   Cancer Monday 09 January 2017  Jun 22 - Jul 22
This is one of those weeks where you won’t know where to look first, there is so much going on. However, what we have is a rushing in of mundane forces, having been pushed aside by some major forces over the holiday period. What you have is life getting back to normal. To start with there is a chance to iron things out on the work front. Mercury has retrograded back into your work sector for eight days, bringing a chance to rethink the way you work, catch up or even have a complete rethink. This is a rare opportunity to return to the drawing board and with a huge year for work and career matters, the timing couldn’t be better. It is the second half of the week that a Full Moon in Cancer on Thursday will shine the spotlight on your own needs and about time. This is when you get to ask ‘what about me’?

   Leo Monday 09 January 2017  Jul 23 - Aug 22
It is hard to imagine a more professionally charged start to a week, nor one that gives more of a false impression. After an alliance in your work sector over the weekend and the Moon’s first visit to your career sector for the year wrapping up on Monday that certainly looks like the case. However, with Mercury having retrograded back into a playful part of your chart and a sense of adventure taking hold, this is being held in check. That will suit the professional gods just fine, because until Mercury returns to your work sector on Friday this is more a chance to get your bearings. If this throws up any balance issues between work and play, then get used to it, for welcome to 2017. While major forces in play across the work, playful and adventurous fronts this year, this is something you’ll have to get used to.

   Virgo Monday 09 January 2017  Aug 23 - Sep 22
Because Mercury turned retrograde just before Christmas, it’s hard to say whether the last retrograde phase of 2016 has just wrapped up or the first retrograde phase of 2017. Either way, the handbrake holding 2017 back was released over the weekend. With the chocks removed, it won’t be long before the wheels start turning. Yet if you’re heading back to work after the holiday period don’t be surprised if between Christmas and now you’ve lost your drive. This is temporary. From Venus’ departure from your work sector last week and the Sun’s return next week, there is a chance to let things settle. However, a break from work matters leaves room to look at your professional goals as a whole. Things that you began exploring back in mid December but had since put on hold, might come back into play in the early days of the week. Expect some movement on the home front as well.

   Libra Monday 09 January 2017  Sep 23 - Oct 23
Any fears that a dream start to your professional year was a flash in the pan are being well and truly allied this week. Not only is a team for planets in your work sector literally becoming tighter by the day, even 2017’s first Full Moon is in league with the professional gods. This is not just the Moon’s first visit to your career sector, but Thursday’s Full Moon has the potential to be a real wildcard. This has the power to bring career and professional matters to a head, turning and/or tipping point. However, it’s the team of players on the work front that will take the ball and run with it. Yet whether still on holiday or back at work, this is more about what this is triggering. On the work front in particular, the more you can do to keep the dream alive the better, even if that means keeping your work hat off for as long as possible.

   Scorpio Monday 09 January 2017  Oct 24 - Nov 21
There is a need to have your money hat on from the get go, but be warned things could get a little intense in the early part of the week. However, don’t see financial tension or pressure as a sign that something is wrong and instead, a sign that everything is going right. What presents as a case of bad timing, is in fact incredibly good timing. On Monday Mercury, who retrograded back for a short double dip visit to your income sector, is already in direct motion and on his way out. Due to leave on Friday, this gives you just a few days to get your head in the game and around your income options, coming up with a game plan if you can. Imagine Mercury’s horror then, when the Moon returns to your financial sector on Monday and moves into opposition. Mercury has no time for emotionally charged lunar vibes, yet they’ll keep you on your toes and provide a full picture.

   Sagittarius Monday 09 January 2017  Nov 22 - Dec 21
It is being brought home in the early part of the week, just how short Mercury’s double dip visit back into Sagittarius actually is. Mercury left Sagittarius in early December, in the early part of your birthday month. A lot of water has passed under the bridge since then, so Mercury’s return last Thursday was a welcome chance to return to the drawing board. With the gift of hindsight, this bought you a valuable chance to return to the drawing board and rework your game plan and resolutions for the coming year. But already in direct motion and due to leave on Friday, this brings home what a short window of opportunity this is. In the meantime, Thursday’s Full Moon is likely to be a timely jump start for both income and financial matters, getting your new financial year off the ground.

   Capricorn Monday 09 January 2017  Dec 22 - Jan 19
If it feels like your birthday month has been put on hold, it’s because it has. When Mercury retrograded back out of Capricorn last Thursday, his parting words were ‘hold that thought, I’ll be back’. And he means it. By the time Mercury returns on Friday you’ll be in the final week of your birthday month. Having had a chance to take your head out of the game, focus less on the details and more on the big picture, by Friday you’ll be ready to bring things home. By the weekend the serious job of finalising your game plan and resolutions for the coming year, will be well underway. Just hours before Mercury’s return, Thursday’s Full Moon is likely to push some buttons, but will bring the wakeup calls needed to ensure you’re paying attention. While you’re waiting for Mercury’s return, there is a chance to look at work matters, especially in the early part of the week.

   Aquarius Monday 09 January 2017  Jan 20 - Feb 18
After Venus’ departure from Aquarius last Tuesday, you now have to wait for the Sun’s return next Friday to take up from where she left off. The update to Venus returning so far ahead of the Sun is that your heart got to have its say first. This has allowed you to start the year on your terms, knowing what you want from the get go. However, this has meant you now have to wait for the Sun, somehow keeping the confidence and intuitive edge you moved into the year with free from over thinking things. This really is your biggest danger this week. For with Venus gone there is a danger of not only second guessing yourself, but doubting whether what your heart has told you is right. Had the Sun returned a week later, the lights would have come on and doubt can’t survive in the shadows. Keeping yourself busy should do it.

   Pisces Monday 09 January 2017  Feb 19 - Mar 20
This week’s key features are the end of Mercury’s retrograde phase and the first Full Moon of 2017. They’re not the only things happening this week, but they are the events that will grab your attention. The problem is, if you could even consider it a problem, is they couldn’t be more different. Having retrograded back into your career sector last Thursday, Mercury is already back in direct motion and due to leave on Friday, he needs you to have your professional hat on from the get go. The first Full Moon of the 2017 falls in a fun, playful, romantic and creatively charged part of your chart and the timing couldn’t be better. This is a Lovers Moon and by coincidence, falls during Venus, planet of love’s first full week in Pisces. Your new professional year is finding its feet, just as the romantic drought breaks.
